Curtain Wall
What is a curtain wall?
Aluminium curtain wall is a versatile and high-performance building system that is designed to provide a seamless and sleek exterior finish. This type of system is composed of a series of mullions and transoms that are made from aluminium extrusions, which are connected together to create a grid-like structure. These frameworks are then filled in with different types of glass or other facing materials, providing an impressive and modern look. Aluminium curtain walls have been specifically created to meet the requirements for structural integrity, energy efficiency, and aesthetic appeal for both commercial and residential buildings alike. They are produced with high-quality materials and rigorous manufacturing standards, which result in a durable and long-lasting product. Additionally, aluminium curtain walls are compatible with a range of different construction methods and building designs, making them a popular choice for architects and builders alike.
A curtain wall is an outer wall of aluminium and glazing which keeps the harsh wind and rain out whilst letting the maximum light into the building. The window and weather rating will be calculated based on the location of the building to ensure that even in the most extreme weathers the curtain wall will withstand all that is thrown at it. Wind, snow and in some cases blast load will be calculated to ensure the safety of the installation. The first curtain wall systems utilised steel, however this has now been replaced by aluminium which is light weight and strong. Whilst the curtain wall system allows the light into a building it may also be necessary to consider the effect of the warm sun and the temperature within the building. Solar controlled glass can be used to maintain a constant temperature inside. The aluminium section will also contain a thermal break to ensure there is a limited transfer of cold to the inside. CMC Aluminium Systems Limited provide energy efficient aluminium curtain wall systems for Chesterfield Derbyshire & Yorkshire and is used in a variety of commercial and domestic situations. It may be a commercial wall feature screen, spanning several floors or a domestic ‘grand design’ style aluminium curtain wall. With its flexibility shapes or curved screens can be created whilst still allowing other systems to be integrated enabling aluminium doors or aluminium windows to be positioned anywhere within feature walls. The curtain wall structural glazing can be used to span large openings or implement impressive designs in commercial or domestic situations.

ALUMINIUM PROFILE
The aluminium profile has slim constant 52mm sight lines for the mullion and ransoms for visual consistency across a project and give excellent thermal performance to achieve low “U” values.
CMC Aluminium Systems Ltd curtain walls as standard use profiles extruded from aluminium alloy 6036 T6 to BS1474, all screws and components are either stainless steel or cadmium plated.
SPECIALIST GLAZING
Our glass units are manufactured off site by leading glass suppliers. All our standard units are soft coat low emissivity and argon filled giving good ’U’ values to meet current regulations. We can also provide specialist glasses for extra security, solar requirements or sound reduction all per your requirements.Let CMC Aluminium Systems assist with your next project.
